Project Description
1.7380, designated as 10CrMo9-10 (historically 10CrMo910) under EN and equivalent to ASTM A387 Grade 22 / A182 F22, is a 2.25Cr-1Mo low-alloy heat-resistant steel bar engineered for hydrogen service, high-pressure wellhead equipment, and elevated-temperature pressure vessels in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and power generation industries. SHUNFU METAL supplies this grade in bar and forging forms with full NACE MR0175 sour service compliance and EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certification.
Introduction to 1.7380 / 10CrMo9-10

This Cr-Mo alloy steel, standardized under EN 10028-2 and EN 10273, is the premium 2.25%Cr–1%Mo grade for sustained service up to 600°C. With double the chromium and molybdenum content of the 1.7335 / 13CrMo4-5 grade, it delivers superior creep rupture strength, exceptional hydrogen attack resistance, and remarkable thermal stability in the most demanding refinery hydrocracker, catalytic reformer, and sour gas wellhead environments. Widely specified as A387 Gr.22 (plate), A335 P22 (pipe), and A182 F22 / A336 F22 (forgings), 1.7380 is the global benchmark material for hydrogen-rich, high-temperature pressure boundary service. SHUNFU METAL provides this grade with hardness controlled to ≤22 HRC for full NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 sour service compliance.
At SHUNFU METAL, 1.7380 bars are produced via electric arc furnace melting with ladle refining and vacuum degassing, achieving ultra-low impurity levels (S ≤ 0.005%, P ≤ 0.012%). For critical sour service orders, electro-slag remelting (ESR) or VIM+VAR triple-melt routes are available. Bars are hot-rolled on a GFM radial forging machine or open-die forged on a 6,000-ton hydraulic press, then normalized at 930–960°C and tempered at 730–760°C to the specified strength and hardness. Every bar undergoes 100% ultrasonic testing per SEP 1921 Class C/c or EN 10228-3, with full chemical, tensile, impact, hardness, and NDT results documented in an EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 certificate.
Equivalent Grades of 1.7380
1.7380 / 10CrMo9-10 has recognized equivalents across all major international standards for elevated-temperature pressure equipment. The closest ASTM counterparts are A387 Gr.22 (plate), A335 P22 (seamless tube), and A182 F22 / A336 F22 (forgings).

Chemical Composition of 1.7380
The chemical composition conforms to EN 10028-2 10CrMo9-10, with tighter impurity controls applied for NACE MR0175 sour service compliance. The 2.25% Cr – 1% Mo alloy design provides superior hydrogen attack resistance, exceptional creep strength, and reliable oxidation resistance at sustained temperatures up to 600°C, making 1.7380 the premier choice for hydrocracker reactors, catalytic reformers, and HPHT wellhead equipment worldwide.

Values in weight percent (wt%). Iron (Fe) balance. Nitrogen ≤ 0.012%; Copper ≤ 0.30%. For sour service per NACE MR0175, SHUNFU METAL restricts sulfur to ≤0.005% and phosphorus to ≤0.012%. ASTM A182 F22 specification allows broader Mn (0.30–0.60%) and slightly wider Mo (0.87–1.13%). All heats are verified by optical emission spectrometry (OES).
Mechanical Properties of 1.7380 / 10CrMo9-10
In the normalized and tempered (+NT) condition per EN 10028-2, 1.7380 delivers high strength, excellent ductility, and reliable impact toughness. For sections >60 mm, +NT or quenched and tempered (+QT) delivery conditions are available. SHUNFU METAL applies controlled normalizing at 930–960°C with air cooling and tempering at 730–760°C to achieve the specified properties. For NACE MR0175 sour service, hardness is restricted to ≤22 HRC (~237 HBW) verified on every bar.
