Project Description

Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) is a nickel-chromium-iron superalloy engineered for severe high-temperature and corrosive service. With a minimum nickel content of 72%, it delivers outstanding resistance to oxidation, carburization, and chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking — qualities that make it indispensable in upstream oil & gas, refining, and petrochemical operations. SHUNFU METAL stocks and produces Inconel 600 bar in both rolled and forged conditions, providing certified material for the world’s most demanding drilling and processing environments.

Inconel 600 / N06600 — Introduction

Inconel 600 N06600 round bar
Inconel 600 N06600 Round Bar

Inconel 600, standardized under ASTM B166 (bar & rod) and widely known by the Werkstoff-Nr. 2.4816, is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-base alloy that retains mechanical integrity from cryogenic temperatures up to 1,100 °C (2,012 °F). Its combination of high chromium content (14–17%) and a nickel-rich matrix provides a dual shield: chromium forms a protective oxide film against oxidizing atmospheres, while the nickel base suppresses chloride stress-corrosion cracking that plagues austenitic stainless steels.

In oil & gas service, Inconel 600 bar performs reliably in sour-gas environments containing H₂S and CO₂, resists scaling in flare system headers, and withstands the cyclic thermal stresses of steam injection wells. SHUNFU METAL melts Inconel 600 in VIM furnaces and optionally remelts via VAR to eliminate segregation, achieving a refined, uniform grain structure critical for downhole reliability.

N06600 Bar — Supply Dimensions

SHUNFU METAL supplies Inconel 600 bar in four production forms with wide dimensional coverage to minimize customer lead times. All products are 100% ultrasonic tested and supplied with MTR certifications per EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2.

Product Form Section Profile Size Range Standard Length
Hot-Rolled Round Bar Round Ø 6 mm – Ø 200 mm 3 m – 6 m (cut-to-length available)
Hot-Rolled Flat Bar Flat / Square Thickness 6–120 mm × Width 20–300 mm 2 m – 6 m
Forged Round Bar Round Ø 80 mm – Ø 800 mm 0.5 m – 4 m (custom billet & ingot)
Forged Flat Bar / Block Flat / Block Thickness 50–600 mm × Width up to 1,000 mm Custom / as-ordered

Surface conditions: black (as-forged/rolled), peeled (turned), polished, or centerless-ground. Tolerances per ASTM B166 or customer drawing. Minimum order quantities apply to non-standard sizes.

Inconel 600 Chemical Composition

The following composition limits apply per ASTM B166 (bar & rod) for UNS N06600. SHUNFU METAL verifies chemistry via optical emission spectrometry on every heat before release.

Ni Cr Fe C Mn Si S Cu
≥ 72.0 14.0 – 17.0 6.0 – 10.0 ≤ 0.15 ≤ 1.0 ≤ 0.5 ≤ 0.015 ≤ 0.5
All values in weight %. Balance: Ni (plus Co if determined, included in Ni min).

SHUNFU METAL’s in-house spectrometry lab cross-checks every cast against customer-specified heat analysis requirements. Certificates of conformance and full chemical reports are issued per EN 10204 3.1 as standard; 3.2 witness inspection is available on request.
