Inconel 617 (UNS N06617 / W. Nr. 2.4663 / NiCr22Co12Mo) is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum superalloy engineered for the most extreme combinations of high temperature, mechanical stress, and corrosive atmosphere. With cobalt (10–15%) and molybdenum (8–10%) as primary solid-solution strengtheners alongside an aluminum-chromium oxide-forming couple, Inconel 617 maintains exceptional creep-rupture strength up to 1,100 °C (2,012 °F) — a performance envelope that far surpasses conventional stainless steels and even most other nickel alloys.

Alloy 617 is unique among commercial nickel superalloys in combining three strengthening mechanisms in a single alloy: solid-solution hardening by Co and Mo, oxide-dispersion-like protection via an adherent Al₂O₃–Cr₂O₃ scale, and carbide precipitation strengthening at grain boundaries for creep resistance. The result is an alloy with a melting range of 1,330–1,410 °C, a density of only 8.36 g/cm³, and allowable stresses codified in ASME Section VIII for pressure vessels operating above 900 °C — a distinction shared by very few engineering alloys.
SHUNFU METAL applies controlled-atmosphere solution annealing at 1,140–1,200 °C in its dedicated vacuum-capable furnace, ensuring each bar meets ASTM B166 and AMS 5887 property minima before shipment. Full mechanical test reports, MTR per EN 10204 3.1, and third-party 3.2 witness inspection are available as standard or on request.
In oil & gas and petrochemical service, it is the go-to alloy for gas turbine hot-section components, steam reformer internals, fired-heater radiant tubes, and high-temperature pressure vessels where no other material can survive. SHUNFU METAL produces Inconel 617 bar from VIM-cast ingots, with optional VAR remelting for critical aerospace and power-generation grades, delivering controlled grain size and full segregation-free chemistry from heat to finished bar.
